Anthrax: Parents Become Activists

Ed.: One of the many letters I received from parents who can no longer stand at the sidelines of the Anthrax policy folly. Here is a letter to the SecDef, triggered by the recent courts martial of Dr. Buck.

By a Concerned Parent

Dear Mr. Secretary:

As you read the following message, pertaining to a subject I am sure is dear to your heart, I want you to ponder one question: "How can there be justice when the military refuses to hear all the evidence?"

The phrase "kangaroo court" comes to mind.

I am concerned because my son is participating in ROTC and has his heart set on being an SF officer. I used to support the Department of Defense because I believed that the interests of the nation (and its soldiers) were foremost on its mind. Thank you, for proving otherwise.

I raised my son to be independent and to make his own choices. I may yet suffer from my success. I will, of course, be actively dissuading my son from joining up. I will also be spreading the word far and wide that serving your country is not the same as being forced to participate in a covert, unlawful, medical experiment.

The Anthrax program is just that, and it's ineffective, except for the largess passed on to BioPort and others.

You're an intelligent person. Need I say more ?

Sincerely,

William C. S.
